Nazareth

Nazareth is the capital of the North District of Israel. The city is situated in a natural bowl at the altitude of 320 meter (1050 feet) above sea level between hills that are a part of Lebanon mountain range. Nazareth is located around 25 km (16 miles) away from the shores of the Sea of Galilae and 9 km (6 miles) west of Mount Tabor. The population of the city is almost 65,000 and with the metropolitan area Nazareth is the most populous city in the Israeli Northern District (around 185,000).

Nazareth is an important city in Christian religious, as according to New Testament, Jesus Christ spent his childhood in Nazareth. Today, there are many biblical shrines in Nazareth and the city is a popular Christian pilgrimage center.
